Though steeped in the Appalachian tradition known as 'old-time,' Putnam Smith's songwriting is as eclectic as the different instruments he plays: banjo, fretless banjo, guitar, mandolin, piano. He often plays with the fiddle player Mariel Vandersteel, and/or cellist Seth Yentes (who is a Mofga farmer!)
